GHR ripropone la Mazda nei Rally

Voliamo in Messico ed esattamente a Leon, per parlare dell’interessante iniziativa di GHR Motorsport, che propone sempre macchine interessanti, e che in questo mese ha fatto debuttare la Mazda 2 R1. La vettura giapponese protagonista in passato di alcuni modelli rallystici interessanti, quali le varie evoluzioni della 323 (campione del mondo in gruppo N) o la RX7 dal motore rotativo.

La squadra con sede nello stato di Guanajuato ha già collaborazioni con altre squadre sportive nazionali, come i Bravos de León (squadra di baseball che partecipa alla Lega messicana di baseball, LMB) e Abejas de León (squadra di basket che partecipa al National Professional Basketball League of Mexico, LNBP), oltre ad essere situato nello stato ospitante il Rally Mexico WRC con cui attualmente collaborano.

La nuova Mazda 2 R1 non è solo la prima al mondo, ma ha anche avuto l’approvazione concessa dalla FIA in Nord e Centro America (FIA NACAM), con l’obiettivo di poter correre non solo in Messico, ma anche per accedere a eventi internazionali nel continente come le due date del World Rally Championship (WRC) che si svolgono in America: Messico, Argentina, e Cile nel 2021.

Inoltre, ha tutti i passaporti necessari per correre in qualsiasi campionato americano, non solo agli eventi WRC.

L’auto è progettata per essere modificata in una seconda fase e diventare di categoria R2, il tutto secondo le normative indicate dalla FIA per le auto di categoria R.

Questo progetto non consiste solo nella creazione della prima Mazda 2 R1, ma a medio termine non vede l’ora di rinnovare la flotta di veicoli nella regione e di essere in grado di competere con i grandi marchi mondiali. Inoltre, Mazda 2 R1 sarà in vendita e avrà un tempo di consegna stimato di quattro mesi.

Con un prezzo stimato di 33.000 USD pronta gara incluso il documento d’omologazione FIA ​​e rollbar.

Le auto sono costruite interamente a Guanajuato e sono progettate appositamente per i giovani che non vedono l’ora di iniziare la carriera in questo sport. Per farlo con la migliore auto possibile, questo progetto offre la migliore qualità ad un costo accessibile. Inoltre, grazie all’approvazione della FIA, possono essere esportati in qualsiasi parte dell’America e sono candidati a correre in qualsiasi campionato di rally nazionale.

Abbiamo contattato GHR Motorsport che ha appena portato al debutto la vettura di Hiroshima, ecco cosa ci hanno detto:

Il team rally messicano GHR Motorsport ha avviato un progetto quasi un anno fa che consisteva nel creare la prima Mazda 2 R1 al mondo, terminata a Novembre 2019. L’auto non poteva avere una prima apparizione migliore, è stata utilizzata per la prima volta al 3° Rally Colima 2019, che si è svolto nella città di Colima, con la bellissima spiaggia di Manzanillo, in cui il duo formato da Jerry Hernández Jr. e Jerry Hernández Sr. ha ottenuto il primo posto nella categoria al loro debutto internazionale. Hanno anche raggiunto un secondo posto assoluto nel CRO (campionato regionale di rally) aggiungendo 18 punti in più alla classifica finale e conseguentemente vincendo il campionato CRO della stagione 2019.

“I risultati sono stati migliori del previsto in quanto è stato il primo rally e test della macchina perché il tempo era poco per arrivare alla data dell’evento, la Mazda si è comportata davvero bene, molto agile, ovviamente non è un’auto di grande potenza ma molto divertente da guidare e se ti abitui, farai molta esperienza e ne trarrai vantaggio, per fare buoni tempi cronometrici e diventare una delle auto più veloci della categoria e persino battere i veicoli più potenti. Ottima prima impressione e tanto lavoro per continuare a sviluppare questo progetto con un buon futuro ”.

Battendo tutte le auto della stessa categoria è un buon viatico sapere che Mazda 2 R1 può combattere e resistere anche alle condizioni atmosferiche avverse mentre ha corso tra i 32 e 36° C e molta umidità. Il test della vettura è stato il primo giorno della manifestazione nelle verifiche tecniche con i controlli amministrativi e tecnici perché dobbiamo adattare ogni singolo punto del regolamento sportivo stabilito dalla FIA, se una cosa non è in regola, non puoi partecipare all’evento. Fortunatamente con l’alleanza che abbiamo con la FIA NACAM, il delegato FIA dall’Argentina, il signor Ángel Portela che ci ha aperto la strada per costruire la macchina, quindi sapevamo facilmente quali modifiche erano vietate o meno.

Con questo, abbiamo terminato la stagione corse 2019, ma abbiamo ancora due eventi molto importanti in vista: la prima settimana di dicembre siamo invitati allo stabilimento Mazda Automotive per mostrare l’auto a tutti i dipendenti, incluso lo staff giapponese che lavora presso lo stabilimento di assemblaggio del marchio, luogo in cui è nata la nostra Mazda 2 R1, poi ci stiamo preparando per il lancio ufficiale per la stampa nazionale della Mazda 2 R1 all’Hermanos Rodriguez F1 CIRCUIT in collaborazione con Pirelli Motorsport il 20 dicembre.

The team based  in the state of  Guanajuato already has alliances with the other sports teams of the state, such as Bravos de León (baseball team participating in the Mexican Baseball League, LMB) and Abejas de León (Basketball team that participates in the National Professional Basketball League of Mexico, LNBP), in addition to being located in the host state of the WRC Rally Mexico and currently in alliance with the organization.

This project not only consists in creating the first Mazda 2 R1, but at medium terms it´s looking forward to renewing the vehicle fleet in the region and be able to compete with the big ones in the world. Also, the Mazda 2 R1 will be for sale and will have an estimated delivery time of four months.

With an estimated price of 33,000 USD ready to race including it’s FIA Homologation paper as well as it’s roll cage.

They are built entirely in Guanajuato and are specially designed for young people who are looking forward to start a career in this sport. In order to do so with the best car possible, this project offers the best quality at an affordable cost. In addition, thanks to the FIA ​​approval they can be exported to any part of America and are candidates to run in any national rally championship.

The Mexican rally team, GHR Motorsport started a project almost a year ago which consisted in creating the world’s first Mazda 2 R1 which was culminated in November 2019. The car couldn´t have a better first appearance it was first used at the FIA NACAM Rally Championship Colima 2019 (3ºEdition) Raced from the city of Colima to the beautiful beach of Manzanillo in which the duo conformed by Jerry Hernández Jr. and Jerry Hernández Sr. obtained first place in the RC5 FIA NACAM category in it’s international debut. They also achieved a second overall place of the CRO (Regional Rally Championship) adding 18 points more to the final standings and by consequence winning the CRO Championship of the 2019 season. (It was 2 events in one. Mix of NACAM and Regional)

“The results were better than expected as it was the first rally and test of the car because the time was very tight to make it to the date of the event, the Mazda felt really good, very agile, obviously it’s not a high powered car but very fun to drive and if you get used to it, you will take a lot of experience and take advantage of it, to put good times on the board and become one the fastest cars of the category and even beat vehicles with more power. Great first impression and a lot to work to keep developing this project with a lot of future ahead”.

By beating all the cars from the same category it is a good window to know that Mazda 2 R1 can fight and resist even hard weather conditions as we were racing between 32-36 Cº and humidity. The fire test of the car was the first day of the rally in the scrutineering with the administrative and technical checkings because we need to fit every single point of the Sporting regulations that FIA establish, if one thing is not in rule, you are unable to participate in the event. Fortunately with the alliance we have with FIA NACAM, the FIA DELEGATE from Argentina, Mr. Ángel Portela was leading the way to build the car so we knew easily what adjustments are prohibited or not.

With this, we finished the racing season 2019, with just two very important events ahead: First week of December we are invited to the Mazda Automotive plant to show the car to all the employees including all the Japanese staff works at the assembly factory of the brand, place were our Mazda 2 R1 was born, and we are getting ready for the Official Launching for the national press of the Mazda 2 R1 at the Hermanos Rodriguez F1 CIRCUIT in partnership with Pirelli Motorsport on December 20th.
