Il team manager, Rees, ha dichiarato ad Autosport: “E’ incredibile, Petter non ha mai saltato la linea di partenza prima d’ora, per questo ho subito chiamato gli organizzatori. Diciamocelo francamente, se vuoi saltare la linea di start non lo fai certo per 0.1 secondi. Un decimo di secondo non è nemmeno un battito di ciglia”
Solberg ha dichiarato: “Non ho fatto nulla di diverso dal solito. Mi sono avviato allo start, il tipo mi ha detto di fermarmi alla linea e abbiamo fatto tutto come sempre”
Latvala, dopo la penalità di Solberg, è balzato in prima posizione seguito da Ogier e da Solberg al terzo posto. Dopo la PS16 un problema alla trasmissione della vettura di Latvala ha riconsegnato la prima posizione a Petter Solberg che è ora a +4.3 secondi da Hirvonen, a +5.7 sec. da Ogier e a +12.7 secondi da Latvala.
Sebastien Ogier ha invece rallentato deliberatamente sulla PS16 in modo da avere una posizione di partenza migliore durante l’ultima giornata di gara.
